From hikes to snow shoeing, here are 9 activities to tick off your Bucket List this winter in Victoria.

Boronia peak, the Grampians 

Catch the sunrise at Boronia Peak, Grampians 🌄

Arguably one of the best walks in the Grampians, Boronia Peak is an essential on our Bucket List. Why not make the spectacular view even more special and catch the sunrise at the top!

Erskine Falls, Lorne

Admire the view at Erskine Falls 🏞️

If waterfalls are your thing, then a visit to Erskine Falls in the winter is a must. Positioned 10km north-west of Lorne in the Great Otway National Park, catch it after a rainy period to see the falls in full force. Admire the view from the first lookout or take the rewarding climb down 230 steps to the second lookout, where you can see the waterfall in all its glory.


Amble through the Redwood Forest in the Otways 🌲

Not far from Erskine Falls, you can take an enchanting walk through a forest of Redwood trees. Deep into the Otways forest, it’s a great place to slow down and enjoy a short stroll.

Mt Oberon, Wilsons Promontory
Hike up Mt Oberon and enjoy the view 🥾

Located in Wilson’s Promontory, the summit of Mt Oberon offers incredible panoramic views that span across one of the most beautiful places in Victoria.
Distance: 6.8 km circuit.
Level of difficulty: Easy / Medium.


Take a guided beach trail ride in Gunnamatta 🐴

For an adventure to remember, why not try a horse ride along St Andrew’s Beach, exploring the beautiful coastal bushlands and spectacular ocean views. Don’t worry if you’re unfamiliar with riding, as on offer are a variety of horseback rides for all ages and levels.


Soak in the Peninsula Hot Springs ✨

While you’re down on the Mornington Peninsula, reward yourself with a relaxing soak in the Hot Springs. Perfect for the winter months of the year, these natural geothermal mineral springs provide a coastal oasis just 90 minutes from Melbourne.


Try out Snoe Shoeing at Mount Bogong ❄️

If you’re after something a little more out of the ordinary, ascending Victoria’s highest peak in the snow is the Bucket List adventure for you. The Mount Bogong Snowshoe Tour climbs eight kilometres to the summit, encountering beautiful alpine vegetation and spectacular views of the high plains.


Go Tobogganing at Lake Mountain 🛷

Only a 2 hour drive from Melbourne, enjoying the snow at Lake Mountain is a fun adventure for the whole family. It’s also a great area to take a walk through the snow gums and enjoy the beauty of Victoria's alpine environment during winter.

Hanging Rock
Climb up Hanging Rock then follow with a cosy hot choc in the Macedon Ranges ☕️

1 hour north-west of Melbourne, the Hanging Rock Summit Walk will treat you to gorgeous views of the northern region of Melbourne and interesting rock formations the whole way up. The walk can be quite a steep way up so we recommend taking your time with enough rest breaks on the way and also give yourself time to explore the rocks.
